Featuring: Graphic designer Michelle van Holland (40) and her son Duuk (3.The houses: Beach cabin on the North Sea coast in IJmuiden, a harbour town just west of Amsterdam. The cabins have an average size of 25 m² and are stored away from the beach over the winter. With demand for the cabins being much greater than the number available, they currently sell for around € 50,000.The style: Despite the relatively small size of the cabins, the owner have managed to create bright and airy interior by using a lot of white and light colours. With a modest sprinkle of summery accessories, such as shells, a miniature lighthouse and life buoy picture frames providing a beachside-holiday feel, pictures and personal memorabilia also give the cabins that home away from home quality. One of Michelle’s favourites is her ‘surfboard carpet’ from Australia where she spent some time after her studies.
