Featuring: The back to basics home of Christien Starkenburg, Slow Wood designer and home improvement store owner, and her husband Henk de JongThe Home: when the couple bought their 70's bungalow in Leeuwarden in the Netherlands, they wanted to focus on simplicity. They paid more attention to the basic needs of a household and centered it around ecological living. A linoleum environmentally friendly cork was placed on the floor, the walls were coated with clay behind which was placed an ecological insulating coating and a large part of the walls were covered with untreated pine. As for the capped walls, they were covered with felt tapestries by designer Claudy Jongstra or painted with ecological paint. The Style: The exterior of the bungalow has kept its distinctive 70s appearance. However, the interior tells a different story. It displays a purposeful contemporary style: trendy, bright, and above all ecological.
