Featuring: Babette is the owner and maker of a handmade and fairtrade brand ‘HALONA’. She lives with her husband Erik and three children in a family home in the dunes of Soest, The Netherlands. The home: Erik and Babette have given their own personal touch to this house. Everything has been demolished and rebuilt mostly with second-hand building materials. Like the bathroom for example. The bath was previously owned by a theater and the bathroom tiles were also a second-hand find. Babette found them and Erik cut and assembled them piece by piece. Every room in the house has its own story. The style: Slow living, imperfection, sustainable, second-hand, and handmade. The home is decorated with a lot of beautiful homemade wall-hangings from the 100% rough untreated sheep wool made by Babette and little works of art and portraits in black and white created by the kids. This home is both cozy and comfortable with lots of warm brown colors.
