Featuring: Inspired by Mediterranean architecture, this villa was designed by Atelier Alejandro Borrego to satisfy the holiday needs of two large families with kids. The home has a layout that offers privacy and communication at the same time. The Home: Nature is the main design element that weaves throughout each space, including the bathrooms. They have chosen sustainable, locally sourced materials to reinforce their ties to nature. The cladding of palm leave branches on the ceiling was built on a nearby Rote Island, using an old technique. The furniture was custom-designed and built in Indonesia using recycled teak wood. Strategically placed screens are used to protect the house from the morning and evening sun. Together with the rooftop garden – that cools down the building – they forego the need for air conditioning. The Style: This luxurious holiday home allows you to leave your worries at the door with its expansive ocean views. The use of natural materials creates a serene peaceful atmosphere and fills the home with warmth.
