Featuring: The carefully reimagined 1970s villa of Astrid and Camiel, both architectural professionals, located in a peaceful woodland setting near Alkmaar in the Dutch province of North Holland.The Home: Set across 300 square metres and two levels, this detached villa offers a thoughtful layout for a family of four (plus one friendly dog), with private quarters upstairs for the teenagers and a secluded master suite on the ground floor. Purchased in 2018 and lovingly renovated since, the house retains its original footprint but feels entirely transformed. With Camiel’s large-scale structural eye and Astrid’s flair for interiors, the couple have crafted a home that is not only visually striking but also nearly energy neutral, thanks to an electric heat pump and smart insulation updates.The Style: With a deep appreciation for 1970s architecture, Astrid and Camiel preserved the character of their home while introducing a bold yet balanced interior. Working with colour consultant Linda van der Ham, they embraced rich tones and robust materials to create a modern, warm and layered space. Large windows draw in woodland light, while thoughtful colour zoning enhances each room’s unique mood.
