Featuring: The self-built home of Christiana, a policy advisor in circular economy, and Guust, a sculptor and carpenter, who live here with their children Ronja and Juda. The Home: In 2020, Christiana and Guust bought an old butcher’s shop of 122 sqm and transformed it completely. Almost nothing of the original structure could be saved, apart from a few load-bearing walls; everything was rebuilt. The couple designed and constructed everything themselves, from the structure and façade cladding to the kitchen, bathroom, and built-in furniture. The result is a single-level home with no thresholds, underfloor heating, and an open, loft-like layout filled with natural light. Large windows and a green patio ensure every room has a view outdoors, while reclaimed materials add warmth and character. The Style: Minimalist with a Japandi touch, the home blends clean lines and natural materials to create a calm, honest atmosphere. Nothing is faux, no veneer, no PVC, just authentic textures and craftsmanship that reflect the couple’s sustainable mindset.
