Featuring: The translation of the name of this holiday house literally means to stay apart with friends, family and that was the intention Buenos Aires based architect Juan Ballester had in mind when he designed his holiday home in the busy, fashionable seaside village of Faro Jose Ignacio, Uruguay. The home: Ballester transformed a small original fisherman’s rancho into a lovely organic, rustic home using natural materials of bamboo, Eucalyptus, cane, straw grass, and Guincho. The style: Keeping to the original footprint with an added extension, the L- shape layout incorporates a central outdoor summer live space where the focal point is the concrete outdoor swimming pool. In the summertime, the outdoors becomes an extension of the indoor rooms where a subtle influence of Africa via artefacts and textiles complements the earthy palette and use of materials.
