Featuring: When interior architect Cathrine Bækken moved into a 58 sqm space with her partner and children, it was a matter of integrating as many functions as possible into fixed furniture. The Home: After Selling their large apartment the couple had decided to scale down and buy a smaller space for living. The building they landed on was from 1958, with an apartment full of small and cramped rooms. However, they saw the potential that lay in the long line of windows facing Vågen. They removed many of the walls since they were not weight-bearing and placed sliding doors separating rooms in the house, visually enlarging it. Cathrine incorporated what she calls a ”Functional Wall” where the entire wall is filled with the oven and refrigerator, the kitchen counter, to the desk, and then a laundry zone at the end.The Style: Compact, living with brilliant space-saving solutions for every room. The colors are light and airy to help make the space seem larger.
