Featuring: Cottage designed for a single woman by Norwegian architect Margrethe Rosenlund www. margretherosenlund. noThe Home: The 100m2 Cottage at Hardangervidda in Norway is beautifully located with the spectacular Hallingskarvet at the back, facing Ustevatn lake. The cottage owner is a single woman who wanted to have a cottage specially designed for single living, but that also needed guest beds to accommodate her visitors. The architect designed the cottage with a two-floor plan. The first floor has an open living, kitchen, and dining room area plus a bedroom. The 4 small guestrooms are placed in the attic on a mezzanine covering only the back part of the cottage. This way the owner only heats up the part she is using, leaving the upper floor locked when not having her guests or her grandchildren there. The Style: The facade is clad in Ore-pine in a Scandinavian clean, almost ribbed style. The interior is warm and bright with walls made of poplar wood. Some of the interior walls and custom-made furniture uses a cost-effective poplar veneer.
